Description
This flock of over a hundred brown pelicans flew overhead near Lake Nocona, Texas. I believe they were brown pelicans because of the silhouette shape of this flock. I never knew they traveled like this and they might have been going down south as we expected 44 degrees at the lake the next morning.
Brown Pelicans were protected by the Endangered Species Act since the 1970’s and were delisted in 2009 as they have upped their numbers significantly. They are fish eaters and can eat up to four pounds of fish per day.
Photograph processed in black and white for the dramatic silhouette effect of all these birds.
