Description
The paper wasp is commonly found in Texas and nests in eaves and other dark places. This wasp was interested in the milkweed, most likely looking for aphids. These wasps are also called umbrella wasps and they can grow to a little over an inch long. The milkweed has clusters of tiny blossoms and normally attracts butterflies.

I literally gasped when I saw this photograph! such vibrant colors and the details of the wasp gave me the shivers - I am too afraid to get that close! Lovely work!
