Description
I saw this wild White-tailed Buck deer in a field near me that had trees and wild grasses at the edge. He saw me and posed for a few seconds before he took off running through the trees. I believe it is a 12-point buck as there are actually 6 points on each side of its antlers. And looking up how to count the points on deer, these points seem to qualify as 12 since the protrusions are longer than they are wide. At any rate it is a beautiful animal and I was excited to get one good photograph of it.
White Tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) are herbivores and the smallest of deer in North America. When running they can actually sprint up to 30 miles an hour and leap up to 10 feet in the air.
