Description
Spring through Summer in Texas, there are many wildflowers growing in a meadow nearby me and every chance I get, I go hiking through it for photo ops. This yellow flower stalk is called a Partridge Pea and has unusual leaves.
Partridge Pea (Chamaecrista fasciculata) are also called Sleeping Plant and Sensitive Plant. They are in the Pea family and can grow to about three feet tall. They attract bees and butterflies and when they go to seed as pods, wild birds will eat those.
