Description
I joined the FAA Year Long Challenge for the theme of ‘The World Outside’, which the rule is post one image per week for 52 weeks in a year. I chose to post a photographic image each week and here is my Week 18 image. I was sitting outside with our granddaughter on the day after Christmas, just enjoying the sunshine and this young, what I believe is a Red-tailed hawk, landed in a big wild bush on our property. It was only about 5 feet off the ground, which seemed unusual. The sun was in the sky starting to set and illuminated the Autumn leaves that were left on the bush and made long shadows of the trees in the background as well. I had my camera on me and was able to zoom in enough to photograph the hawk, just before it went after a little bird that was in the bush. The little bird flew off and the hawk followed it for about 50 feet but then the bird got away. It was a thrilling minute of action and was very cool to photograph the hawk before it went into its hunt mode.
