Artist's Description
During a recent snowfall, the snowflakes gathered on the wild Texas Cedar trees that grow around the country fields and meadows. I like to go out during these times to capture interesting photographs. Since some of the cedars are starting to put out new shoots, they have a red tone to them which I thought looked pretty against the new fallen snow clinging to them.
These are actually called Mountain Cedar (Juniperus ashei) which is not really a cedar but more of a Juniper. They are also called Ashe Juniper, Rock Cedar, Mexican Juniper and Texas Cedar. It is an evergreen tree and the tallest can be up to 25 feet. The female tree fruiting ‘cones’ look like berries and provide food for wildlife. We have many deer and birds in the area so I am sure they like these trees.

About Gaby Ethington
Hello! My main focus is nature photography, which is my favorite subject, especially flora and fauna that are naturally around my area in North Texas. In addition, I have taken to processing some of my photographs with digital art effects which brings out an artistic flair in an abstract or painterly style. I dabble in other genre of photography such as food, architecture and road trip travels. I also enjoy pairing up my photographic art with Bible Scripture. My Photographic Scripture Collection is called 'Faith-Devotional' and is listed first in my Collections tab because I want to honor God first in all that I do in life and art. I have slowly started to paint again which I haven't done since the 1970's. I have a few of my paintings...
