Artist's Description
This is a wild flower called Indian Blanket also known as Firewheel. It is the state flower of Oklahoma but you see a lot of these in my part of north Texas as well. It grows in meadows and along the highways with other wildflowers. I put it in a square format for the dramatic effect of looking straight at the flower with the dark background as well.
The technical name of this flower is Gaillardia pulchella. It is a bright, pretty flower and this view brings in the ‘fuzzy’ details of the center of the flower that you might not notice in the meadows.
