Description
I believe this grasshopper-like insect is called a Katydid. I think the green of this insect is a great camouflage in nature and I barely saw it as I walked along a bushy grass path.
Katydids are so called because of the sounds they make, like it is saying ‘ka-ty-did’. They eat leaves and bushes and can be found in fields, gardens and woods.
I like the way it looks like it is wearing armor as well as the subtle patterns on its body.
