I joined the 365-day Journal challenge for 2022 and here is my ‘Day 242’.
Aug 30, 2022, Journal Entry:
On my walk the other day to take the food scraps to the organic waste receptacle area, I had cut through the courtyard area in the community. There is a section where there are water fountains which are in the form of metal statues of herons. I saw a couple of hummingbirds there, taking turns in the water that flowed from the statue’s beak. This is one of them sitting on the water tube getting ready to take a sip, pretty much claiming the spot. I am pretty sure this is an Anna’s Hummingbird because of the pink feathers on its head.
Anna’s Hummingbirds (Calypte anna) are a constant presence in this part of California. The males have rose-pink feathers that flash around their throat and top of their head. Hello! My main focus is nature photography, which is my favorite subject, especially flora and fauna that are naturally around my area in North Texas. In addition, I have taken to processing some of my photographs with digital art effects which brings out an artistic flair in an abstract or painterly style. I dabble in other genre of photography such as food, architecture and road trip travels. I also enjoy pairing up my photographic art with Bible Scripture.
