This beautiful pitcher vase has been in my mother’s hutch for over 40 years, and she loves to use it for bouquets of flowers. My sister brought some copper peach toned Alstroemeria flowers which accented the colors of the vase. The bouquet was not in a perfect arc when I photographed the still life scene and I thought, ‘well, a real photographer would have arranged the flowers in an arc to be symmetrical’ but then I decided no one on earth is perfect and flowers are beautiful no matter which way, so I went with it. I edited the image with a painterly style and a vintage appearance.
Alstroemeria flowers can grow up to 3 feet tall. They are also called Lily of the Incas or Peruvian Lily. They are named after a Swedish Baron, named Claus von Alstromer. He introduced this flower to Europe in the 1700’s. They symbolize devotion, friendship and commitment which also makes them a popular flower for florists to include in bouquets.
