Description
I joined a 5-day Architecture challenge in September 2021. Here is my Day 1 – A beautiful and stately farmhouse in the Texas countryside. I like the symmetry of the turret-like structures on each side even though one side has a balcony. The filigree moldings on top of the door in the middle gable and between the windows at the sides adds an extra touch of elegance. The house is on a huge farmland property, and I think it is not too fancy but a statement of dignity. I believe the architecture of this beautiful home is somewhat Neo-classical.
Neo-Classical Architecture has been around a long time, since the 1700’s with the revival of Greek and Roman styles of building designs. The mode of this design has elements such as being of grand scale, geometric modeling, opulent columns and Greek or Roman details for the most part. There have been variations of forms but three most popular are a Temple style (such as Pantheon), Palladian style (after Architect Andrea Palladio) and Classical Block style (many columns and arches). The White House in Washington, D.C is considered as Federal Neo-Classical, as an example.

Not what I think of when someone says farmhouse! lol I'd call it a mansion, Texas style. Great pic.

hahaha, yes I contemplated that oxymoron of a title but it was on a farm so... :) Thank you!
