Description
This pretty day lily is called Red Magic and you can see why. The deep red tones in the petals are striking. The yellow-orange center brings out the red even more. The stamen of the flower stands up straight as if to hail the bees and pollinators to the flower.
Red Magic (Hemerocallis Red Magic) blooms in the mid-summer season and each flower only lasts about 24 hours (the reason it is called a Day Lily). They are hardy and drought tolerant and easy to grow. They also attract butterflies and hummingbirds. They look like a tropical type flower to me.
