Description
These Bearded Iris flowers are in the bud stage and the thin membrane covering the flower were highlighted by the sunlight. They are growing near a stand of wild oak trees and I just liked the way the bokeh of the sunlight and the vertical lines of the trees and stems composed this image – off center and colorful.
Some gardeners state that the name of the Iris comes from the Greek goddess by that name, others state that since the Greek word for iris is rainbow, that the name comes because of the many colors that iris flowers come in. Whatever the origin they are an interesting flower even in bud form.
