July 16, 2022, Journal Entry:
Recently we visited with some friends who have a farm. They are raising pigs, cows, goats and many fowl besides chickens. I had fun taking photographs of all the animals. This is a cute and gruff looking goat that was in a pen with some other goats. He looked like a tough little guy but he was friendly. He was walking toward me to say hello as I photographed him. I edited this image with a mild illustrated and painterly style.
Goats are a farm animal that have a herd mentality and should have other goats with them. People raise goats for milk, meat and even to take care of overgrown areas on properties. Goats have a high metabolism and should be fed well besides the pasture grazing that they do. There are some goat breeds that are bred for the fiber (coat) such as Angora and can get sheared twice a year. The farm this goat was on are raising goats for milk, to have more baby goats and land maintenance.
