I joined the 365-day Journal challenge for 2022 and here is my ‘Day 174.
June 23, 2022, Journal Entry:
Some of the Agapanthus plants around my mother’s community in Southern California were growing with white flower petals and this is one close up of a burst of blossoms. I edited the image with a slight illustrated and painterly style and vignette.
Agapanthus are called the Flower of Love as the name originates from the Greek words ‘Agape’ (love) and ‘Anthos’ which means flower. They can grow up to 3 feet tall and they are also called Lily of the Nile, but they are not in the lily family of flowers. They are native to South Africa and are now seen all over the world. They are especially prominent in Southern California as they grow easily in that climate. I have seen hummingbirds check them out for the bit of nectar inside the blossoms.
