I joined the 365-day Journal challenge for 2022 and here is my ‘Day 123.
May 3, 2022, Journal Entry:
One neighbor by my mother’s place has hibiscus shrubs growing next to each other in pink tones and purple tones. This one had a big pink flower surrounded by lush green leaves and seemed to jump out of the bush with its bright pink hues. I photographed this close up and then edited it this morning with a very mild painterly technique to give a flow to the background. In searching for the type of hibiscus this is, I believe it is a Queen of the Tropics Hibiscus.
Pink Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis Pink), also known as Tropical Hibiscus, will bloom periodically throughout the year in mild climates. It is a bright and cheery flower native to China (in the tropical regions) with dark green lush leaves. I think they love the California weather, as they grow well all over the Southern California landscapes.
