I joined the 365-day Journal challenge for 2022 and here is my ‘Day 160.
June 9, 2022, Journal Entry:
We went on a little outing a couple of weeks ago, just to get my mom out of the house. We went to Home Depot to look at the flowers in the nursery area and saw so many different kinds, growing happily. We stopped to look at all of them. This is a butterfly bush and I thought the lavender purple spike flowers were so pretty. My mom enjoyed the outing even though it is very hard for her to walk now – she is a strong woman and wants to go, thankfully her walker helps to keep her to steady. I edited this image with a mild painterly style and texture.
Butterfly bush (Buddleia davidii) is a shrub that is deciduous and fast growing. They grow wide and tall, up to 12 feet but you can find dwarf varieties if you don’t want them to take over your garden. They attract butterflies of course, but also bees and hummingbirds like them too. They start to bloom in early Summer and will continue through Fall. They are perennial plants and fairly drought-tolerant once established.
