I joined the 365-day Journal challenge for 2022 and here is my ‘Day 94.
April 4, 2022, Journal Entry:
I am able to take small walks around my mother’s community and of course I take my camera with me. I decided on this day to change out my zoom lens to my macro lens and grab some shots of the many flowers around the clubhouse. This is a macro close up of an Agapanthus flower just beginning to emerge from its bud. I love the streaks of the green leaves behind it which makes the violet petals from the bud stand out.
Agapanthus are called the Flower of Love as the name originates from the Greek words ‘Agape’ (love) and ‘Anthos’ which means flower. They can grow up to 3 feet tall and they are also called Lily of the Nile but they are not in the lily family of flowers. They are native to South Africa and are now seen all over the world. They are especially prominent in Southern California as they grow easily here. I have seen hummingbirds around them so they must have a bit of nectar inside.
