I joined the 365-day Journal challenge for 2022 and here is my ‘Day 157.
June 6, 2022, Journal Entry:
The cactus in my mother’s garden bloomed another beautiful flower. These flowers look so exotic and the pink tone is striking.
The name of this cactus is Crenate Orchid Cactus; the flowers actually bloom open at night and start to close up during the daylight hours. I took a cutting off this cactus to take back to Texas with me, hopefully I can nurture it to bloom like this when it matures.
Crenate Orchid Cactus (Epiphyllum crenatum) is native to South and Central America. It will bloom in Spring and Autumn, very pretty flowers that open up wide at night. They actually have a fragrance and are mostly white in color but sometimes you see pink, orange, red and purple as well.
