I joined the 365-day Journal challenge for 2022 and here is my ‘Day 244’.
September 1, 2022, Journal Entry:
The Agapanthus flowers are starting to fade, and some are going to seed. This is one was in a mixed stage and look frazzled as its seed pods took over. It was interesting to see because the seed pods are a vibrant green and fresh looking as they are bursting out and the flower petals look faded and scruffy as they droop away. It is a juxtaposition of flower energy.
Agapanthus are called the Flower of Love as the name originates from the Greek words ‘Agape’ (love) and ‘Anthos’ which means flower. They can grow up to 3 feet tall and they are also called Lily of the Nile but they are not in the lily family of flowers. They are native to South Africa and are now seen all over the world. They are especially prominent in Southern California as they grow easily here.
