Description
The Texas Bluebonnet flower is iconic and is also the state flower of Texas. This is a close-up of one flower, with another one just starting to grow up behind it. I processed my photograph with an illustrated and slightly painterly style for an artsy appearance.
Bluebonnet flowers are in the Lupinus family of flowers. These flowers are so named because their shape is like a bonnet worn by a pioneer woman of old. They are native to Texas and were named by the settlers there. It is also called a Wolf flower and there have been mutations that turned the flower pink, white or maroon. They grow all over Texas on the Spring and make the fields and prairies beautiful for weeks.
