May 21, 2022, Journal Entry:
This is a group of Calla Lilies growing very closely together and upright within their large leaves. I did some experimenting this morning in my editing program and turned this portrait into a part painterly-part sketch image in pink and purple tones with a vintage flair.
Calla lily flowers (Zantedeschia sp.) come in many colors with white being the classic color, especially for use in bridal bouquets. They are not really a lily per se, as they are more related to Caladium plants. They are native to South Africa and can be grown in the ground or in planter containers. They are considered easy to grow and they symbolize rebirth and Christ’s resurrection, often used at Easter time or at funerals. The word ‘Calla’ is Greek for beauty, so they are often inserted in wedding bouquets to represent devotion.

Hello! My main focus is nature photography, which is my favorite subject, especially flora and fauna that are naturally around my area in North Texas. In addition, I have taken to processing some of my photographs with digital art effects which brings out an artistic flair in an abstract or painterly style. I dabble in other genre of photography such as food, architecture and road trip travels. I also enjoy pairing up my photographic art with Bible Scripture. My Photographic Scripture Collection is called 'Faith-Devotional' and is listed first in my Collections tab because I want to honor God first in all that I do in life and art. I have slowly started to paint again which I haven't done since the 1970's. I have a few of my paintings...
