I joined the 365-day Journal challenge for 2022 and here is my ‘Day 361’.
December 27, 2022, Journal Entry:
We live in the country and in our particular community there are white-tailed deer that pass through the meadow behind our property. Mostly the female deer pass through but sometimes we will see these beautiful bucks walking through the tree line. This one had big antlers and was either an eight point or ten point deer. He was walking fast because he saw me at the other end of the field. I had my long lens on my camera, so I was able to get a nice semi-close up. I edited the image with a painterly style.
White Tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) are herbivores and the smallest of deer in North America. When running they can actually sprint up to 30 miles an hour and leap up to 10 feet in the air. These deer are usually found in brushy and wooded areas. It is estimated there are more than 3 million deer in Texas.
